ID Guard
1st Valley Credit Union now enrolls every member into its ID Guard program free of charge

How ID Guard Works:

ID Guard provides multiple tiers of expert service that can include a comprehensive guide to restoration, credit monitoring for online members, a trained identity theft advocate, and up to $1,000 of identity theft insurance.

The tiered levels of service are designed to be appropriate to the level of protection the member requires.
  • Members needing a minimum level of protection are those with only a savings account or loan with the Credit Union and receive a review of their account for suspicious activity and a 46 page complete guide to protection and restoration. The account may be closed and reopened under a new number if necessary.

  • Members who require a more substantial level protection, those who also have checking accounts with the Credit Union, receive the services of a professional identity theft advocate. The trained advocate is the real key to what makes this program stand out from others. Identity Theft victims receive:
    • A personal advocate who works with you one-on-one to restore your identity
    • Systematic notification to credit bureaus, creditors, governmental agencies and others, including credit collectors
    • Preparation of all documents and phone calls needed to resolve your identity theft
    • Comprehensive case file creation to provide assistance to law enforcement
    • A full year of credit monitoring and follow-up calls
    • A full year of fraud monitoring for victims of true identity theft
    • Threat alerts and education

  • Members needing the greatest level of protection are those with checking and credit card accounts with the Credit Union. They receive the same services as above as well as the peace of mind of up to $1,000 of identity theft insurance to cover out of pocket expenses incurred while resolving an identity theft incident.
